Who are We?
Our Mission
Alahraar is an independent Iraqi blog, not affiliated to any political or non-political organizations or any religious group. We are all free thinkers who seek enlightenment, aiming for communicating the truth about Iraq and hoping for a positive change.
We are a group of Iraqi individuals; we stand against all kind of injustice, racism, corruption, and nepotism which we are witnessing every day in both central Iraq and Kurdish Regional Government (KRG). The work of our staff advances ideas rooted in our belief in democracy, liberation, and solidarity with all Iraqis who suffer from the current conditions.
We ourselves witnessed violations of human rights, governmental corruption, Shia and Sunni Religious authorities, fear of armed militias threats, and other persecution practices that are still happening every day in our home country. We want to identify, analyze and diagnose the issues to increase awareness, and suggest feasible solutions that can be made in the deteriorating Iraqi conditions. We are very transparent, and speak of our experiences, and we welcome truthful articles and analytical reading to the modern political history in Iraq.
Who are we:
- Dr. Shermeen Yousif, a secular, feminist, women rights’ activist, from Iraq.
- Arkan Radeef, a freethinker, human rights’ activist, from Iraq.
